I have been a weaver all my life since rescuing a small mill from closure in the Highlands, and am now living in Edinburgh. I have woven many different types of fabrics over the years. Currently I am working with pure cashmere on a range of luxury scarves and wraps, as well as mohair for large throws.
Before weaving I create my designs using inspiration from Scottish landscapes, and after sourcing the cashmere, work with the dyer to produce the vibrant colours I use. Next it's off to the mill where I wind the warp then it's time to get weaving.
I also run weaving and feltmaking workshops in primary schools.
Neckwraps by Kim
I design, cut and sew each totally individual neckwrap myself using a mix of upcycled and British made fabrics. Finding these fabrics involves visits to vintage shops, trips to Scottish and English mills and even hunting out the fabrics I wove myself while completing my degree in Textile Design at the Scottish College of Textiles. Every neckwrap always has a piece of Steve’s luxurious cashmere in it. They are lined with soft fleece and fasten with a handmade button created for me by Fran of McAnaraks.
